Artist in Residence-Space at Annual Exhibition 2024
Venue:
- Artist in Residence-Space der HFBK, Raum 214 Lerchenfeld
The international guest artists Femi Johnson (Lagos) and Larion Lozovyi (Kyiv) and their students will be exhibiting works from the past semester in the HFBK Hamburg's Artist in Residence Space (2nd floor, room 214).
Femi Johnson is a guest lecturer in the SSP Time-based Media in the winter semester 2023_24. Together with students Cora Durmann, Alexis Brancaz, Sarah Lotus, Benjamin Janzen, Sophie Golly, Sophia Leitenmayer, Lewis De Cooman, Leshan Shi, Ki Bui, Björn Eichorn, Mimi Hope,Yuan Xue and Yiran Xu, he is showing "Chasing the Fleeting", an invitation to seize the day and be fully present in this moment that is passing.
At the center of the exhibition is a visual model of the HFBK. The carefully crafted 3D representation serves as a canvas on which moments are captured as they fade into history. Every brushstroke, every mark made on the model becomes a testimony of presence in time. The model is an invitation to be part of the living history of an institution and to contribute your own chapter to its ever-evolving story.
In this way, the installation becomes a celebration of the living web of experiences, ideas and creativity that each of us contributes to our immediate community. It calls the spectators to action, because we are all creators and shapers of our destiny.
Larion Lozovyi is a guest lecturer in the SSP Sculpture in the winter semester 2023_24. Together with the students Maja Wietfeldt, Doruk Can Kaya, Anna Tychynina, Daria Maiier, Alisa Sizykh, Jonas Höhn, Kristina Shuster, Vlada Shuster and Leo Zhang he explores the question of whether hope has a principle. The exhibition follows the theme of the seminar "Collection of Contacts: I am Glad if I Have You Around" and explores artistic solidarity that manifests itself through gestures and gifts, through hopeful attitudes despite all adversity.
Based on "mail art networks", the group produces po works as gifts for friends and acquaintances. Against the backdrop of current experiences with political or personal unrest, they attempt to answer the question: "What is a principle of hope?".
The artworks will be exhibited as part of the annual exhibition 2024 at the HFBK Hamburg and then sent to various locations. Zsófia Börcsök and Yaroslav Futymskyi contributed as guests to the exhibition.
