From 15-17 November, the salondergegenwart exhibition format will showcase 33 artists in Hamburg's city centre and take stock of the current state of painting.
Free from thematic superstructure or curatorial restrictions, the non-profit initiative, founded in 2011 by Margarita and Christian Holle, provides an insight into new developments in contemporary art. The aim is to make the diversity of current painterly positions visible and accessible to a broad public, to bring artists from all over Germany to Hamburg and to draw attention to Hamburg's art scene beyond the region.
This year, 29 up-and-coming artists from all over Germany will be presented. The artists were selected during visits to numerous academy tours, fairs and exhibitions, so salondergegenwart has established itself as a place for new artistic discoveries. The newcomers are supported by the participation of established artists Simon Fujiwara, David Schnell and Robin Rhode. A work by the universal artist Rebecca Horn, who died in September, will also be shown.
The public can expect an exhibition event at which all artists will be present. Admission and participation in the hourly guided tours are free of charge.
