Flickering Moment - Screening
Venue:
- Extended Library der HFBK Hamburg
We invite you to participate in a three-day film workshop, led by Sarah Savalanpour, that engages with mediating the Archive at Video-Forum (n.b.k.) The workshop will offer a critical exploration of Autobiographical video art, focusing on artists whose works navigate the complexities of displacement , temporality, identity, memory, and the body. Together, we will delve into the (un)translatability of artistic materials and archives through collaborative practices of observation, reading, and writing. The sessions will address the intersectional dynamics of how to "become sound," probing the possibilities of reconciliation through audio and questioning the extent of our authorship in the artistic process.
The workshop will take place over three days—October 15th, 16th, and 24th—and will conclude in a public program and film screening on November 20th at HFBKs Extended Library. This final event will offer an opportunity to expand the workshop’s artistic practices, fostering a dialogue between the artistic and educational practices of these two sites.
"Extended library is a newly formed space within the HFBK Hamburg that aims to answer questions such as, " How can knowledge archives support artistic knowledge production? And how can they remain relevant as a social space within an art academy? For this purpose, the 150-square-meter foyer of the library was transformed into a transdisciplinary learning, working, and discourse space that allows learners, researchers, and visitors to experience the connection between theory and practice, production and mediation.”
