In the metal workshop, HFBK students will learn basic skills in metalworking, which will be extended through the practical realisation of individual project plans. In this, students will receive comprehensive advice and supervision. In terms of content, the focus will be on the posing of mechanical/technical questions, the execution of corresponding pieces of work and experimental work with metal as a material. For metalworking, machine tools will be available for turning and cutting, with further equipment for working sheet metal, apparatus for diverse manual techniques and machines for performing standard welding processes as well as a smith’s forge. Participating in an introductory or advanced course in machine use is generally required for the use of the workshop. In addition, practical courses and a seminar, »A Technical Foundation for Designers« is offered.
