Semester Opening 2022
Questions surrounding study at the HFBK are taken as the theme for the traditional event marking the semester opening. The focus is on welcoming new members to the HFBK and saying farewell to colleagues who are retiring. Every year, all first-years, students, teaching staff, members of the Hochschulrat (University council) and many guests from the city are invited to the celebration.
This year's semester opening will take place on October 12, 2022, starting at 5 p.m.
- Welcome by Martin Köttering, President of the HFBK Hamburg.
- Guest lecture Ablenkung. Kunst und Governance by Dr. Tom Holert
- Introduction of the new professors Adina Pintilie and Tobias Zielony as well as the visiting professors Reza Afisina and Iswanto Hartono by ruangrupa, Dr. Tom Holert and Gilly Karjevsky
Followed by a reception at the exhibition Irgendwas ist immer by Konstantin Grcic at ICAT - Institute for Contemporary Art & Transfer.
The newly founded ICAT will bundle the research activities of the HFBK Hamburg and sustainably introduce artistic questions into current social discourses. As a center for critical art practice and theory, ICAT addresses a diverse audience with its events, exhibitions, workshops and publications to discover other forms of knowledge and cultural production.
