Gallery Programme, 2004-21
The HFBK has run a university gallery from 2004 to 2021 in the main building at Lerchenfeld 2, with the support of the Karl H. Ditze Foundation. The concept for this experimental exhibition space is based on the idea of creating our own forum for curatorial and artistic exhibition practice while at the same time showing work to a large audience.
The University is primarily a place of education, where prospective artists can develop their own profile in collaboration with teachers without being systematically confronted with the everyday business of the exhibitions while doing so. However, for professional artists it is increasingly important to gain insights into the concepts and development process of art mediation.
Thanks to the gallery, the range of subjects on offer has been expanded to include »Exhibition Practice«. This makes it possible to engage with external discourse and maintain a presence as an exhibiting institution, as well as offering regular diploma and annual exhibitions.
The HFBK Gallery is run by changing teams of student curators. Please switch to the German version of this page to learn about their programmes.
