Ute Janssen, Artistic workshop supervisor, Video Workshop
Ute Janssen (*1957) studied sculpture and video under Nam June Paik at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 1981 to 1986. From 1987 to 1989, she studied graphic art, photography and film at the Rijksakademie van beldende kunsten, Amsterdam. Since completing her studies, she has worked as an artist, curator and lecturer. Between 1989 and 1999, she took classes on video and new media at prominent universities - the Kunstakademie München, Munich, the Kunstakademie Stuttgart and the Merzakademie, Stuttgart. Group exhibitions Janssen has been involved in since 1990 includeSIXPACK, Netherlands Media Art Institute – Montevideo / Time Based Arts, Amsterdam (1993), Plötzlich ist eine Zeit hereingebrochen, in der alles möglich sein sollte - Part 3, Kunstverein Ludwigsburg, curated by Udo Kittelmann (1995), Redefining Conventions: German Art Now, San Francisco, Haines Gallery, as part of the Biennale di Venezia cultural programme,Club Berlin in Teatro Malibran (1996), (Neuer Aachener Kunstverein, in collaboration with Jürgen Drescher) (2008), PARKHAUS in the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf and, in 2011, the MASCHINE-RAUM - Festival for Digital Art and culture in Denmark. Since 2002, Janssen has been teaching at the HFBK Hamburg. She is also director of the HFBK Video workshop.
