2022/09/09: Daniel Hopp receives Karl Schmidt-Rottluff-Stipendium
HFBK graduate Daniel Hopp (Master 2020 with Prof. Jeanne Faust, Prof. Dr. Astrid Mania) is one of six artists who will receive the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff scholarship over the next two years. The grant comes with monthly support of 1,200 euros. Furthermore, it includes a group exhibition at the Düsseldorf Kunsthalle in autumn 2023 as well as an associated catalogue production. In addition, the recipients can take part in the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes' educational programme, such as conferences, excursions or summer academies. Since 2016, the award winners have also created limited editions, the proceeds of which flow back into the scholarship and thus support future recipients. This year's jury selected 14 finalists from around 70 proposals in June 2022, who were invited to present their work at the main selection in September. The OPEN HOUSE, the open presentation of the works following the jury meeting, welcomed around 400 guests to the Brücke Museum Berlin on 3 and 4 September. This year, the rotating jury for the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff Scholarship included John Bock, Johanna Diehl, Antje Engelmann, Gregor Gleiwitz, Franka Hörnschemeyer, Christian Jankowski, Annette Kelm, Wolfgang Mayer (Discoteca Flaming Star), Bjørn Melhus, Christine Streuli and Nasan Tur.
