Opening Hours
Mon-Thurs: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
The workshop for media technology and electronics focuses on the creative use of electronic and media technology hardware and software.
The media technology part of the workshop covers topics such as the use of video and audio technology for recording, transmitting, editing and performing audiovisual works, the technical basics required for this, discussion of post-production workflows in image and sound, visual effects of an analog and digital nature, strategies of medialization and staging with the means of light and sound.
The electronic part of the workshop offers a laboratory where electronic circuits for artistic and musical purposes can be designed, programmed and tested. The basics of electronics, physics and an intuition for the behavior of complex systems taught here are essential for a comprehensive understanding of media technologies and the use of the same. For projects with safety-relevant issues (e.g. work involving mains voltage), advice can be sought here.
In addition, students receive practical instruction in the use of equipment and production resources, and specific software training is offered as a supplement based on identified needs. Further specialized seminars in an interdisciplinary context in the fields of audiovisual culture, visual media and gender research extend the range of courses.
The equipment and technology of the workshop can be used after introduction. Project consultation or clarification of comprehension questions is possible by appointment via mail.
The workshop is usually open from Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Note: The workshop is moving to room 230 Le during the semester break. During the move and the set-up of the new location, workshop use is limited.
