The Hamburg Stipendium is an initiative of the Studierendenwerk Hamburg, which has been supporting students who successfully master their studies despite special challenges since the 2018/2019 winter semester. It is aimed at students with a migration or refugee background whose parents did not attend a university in Germany. The scholarship not only provides financial support, but also supports the scholarship holders in an idealistic way by offering them a valuable network and a wide range of events.

In the sixth year of the scholarship, 30 committed students enrolled at the eight universities in the Studierendenwerk Hamburg’s area of responsibility are benefiting. They are studying in a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, humanities, law, economics, social sciences, natural sciences and artistic programmes.

The Hamburg Stipendium is committed to equal opportunities in education and helps to promote Hamburg’s future by supporting students and at the same time strengthening the links between them and Hamburg companies.
