There are no fixed application deadlines for Erasmus+ funded internships. However, it is important to note that the Erasmus+ programme provides financial support only. Students must organise a work placement for themselves.

Once students have been accepted for an internship, they can apply for Erasmus+ funding by submitting the following documents to the International Office:

• Application form

• Internship confirmation

Due to the documents that need to be prepared, an application should ideally be submitted around two months before the start of the internship.

• BFA students must have completed the first year of their studies. If the internship takes place during the lecture period, the second year must also have been completed.

• Internships at EU institutions and other EU bodies, including specialised agencies (complete list), and organisations that manage EU programmes are not eligible for funding.

• Students must remain enrolled at HFBK Hamburg for the entire duration of their internship (please note the re-registration deadline!).

• All students participating in the Erasmus+ programme are required to submit certain documents (e.g. the so-called Training Agreement). Details will be communicated upon successful application by the International Office.

• There is no legal right to funding.

• Mobility grant and travel allowance based on the distance to the destination. For distances up to 500 km, the use of sustainable means of transport is expected (“Green Travel”).

• Due to a limited budget and rising demand, at present only one Erasmus+ internship per HFBK student can generally be funded.

Under the Erasmus+ programme, internships for recent graduates can also be funded up to a maximum of one year after graduation. The requirement is to apply while still studying, that is, before de-registration (“Exmatrikulation”). Interested students are advised to contact the International Office at an early stage.

Equal opportunities are a key concern of the Erasmus+ programme. A top-up of 250 euros is intended to address and support those who, due to various barriers, have rarely or never been able to participate in the programme. These target groups have been centrally defined for Germany and include the following participants:

• Students from non-academic backgrounds

• Employed students

• Students with child(ren)

• Students with disabilities or chronic illnesses
