Starting in October 2026, HFBK NOVA will create a new space for artistic production, exhibition, and exchange on Admiralitätsstraße in Hamburg. Located in the heart of the established gallery district on Fleetinsel, NOVA will combine studio support, public programming, and the visibility of artistic practices at the HFBK Hamburg.

At the heart of the initiative are three postgraduate studio fellowships for HFBK master’s graduates. For twelve months, they will have their own studio—and thus the time and space to further develop their artistic practice after graduation. An affordable and professional workspace is particularly important during this transitional phase: The transition from college to independent artistic practice brings not only new organizational and financial challenges but also, frequently, the question of where focused work is even possible. NOVA creates a sustainable framework for this while also facilitating networking with gallery owners, curators, and other key players in the art world.

In addition to the studios, an independent exhibition and event program is being developed. Several times a year, exhibitions are opened in parallel with the gallery tours on Admiralitätsstraße, where established and emerging artistic voices come together, thereby opening up new forms of cross-generational exchange.
