The Peters-Messer Scholarship of the City of Viersen is an art grant residency aimed at supporting emerging artists and is awarded by the City of Viersen in cooperation with the entrepreneurial Peters-Messer family. In reference to the city’s Graphic Collection, the scholarship is directed at artistic practices with a focus on works on paper. Its aim is to enable the scholarship holders to concentrate fully on their artistic work for a limited period of time. The scholarship includes a monthly financial grant, free accommodation in Viersen-Süchteln, and an accompanying presentation organised by the Municipal Gallery in the Park Viersen. In addition, recipients are expected to actively participate in the public and cultural life of the city.
Who can apply?
Emerging artists with a focus on works on paper (e.g. printmaking, drawing, photography)
Applicants up to a maximum age of 38
The artistic degree must have been completed no more than five years ago
Willingness to reside in Viersen from August to November
Willingness to actively participate in public life in Viersen

Inclusion of at least three and no more than five photographs of own works (max. DIN A4)
No portfolios or catalogues should be submitted
