Zu Gast bei Urbane Künste Ruhr is an open call for artistic research, offering three three-month research residencies in cooperation with the Stiftung Geschichte des Ruhrgebiets at the Haus der Geschichte des Ruhrgebiets in Bochum. The program is aimed at artists interested in developing a contemporary perspective on the Ruhr region and enables in-depth work with archival and library resources. The residency runs from September 1 to November 30, 2026, and includes a fee of 5,000 euros (gross), accommodation in Bochum, a workspace at the Haus der Geschichte des Ruhrgebiets, curatorial support from Urbane Künste Ruhr, assistance with regional networking, and coverage of travel and local public transport costs for research purposes. The goal is to develop a project idea that may become part of a multi-day event in Duisburg in 2027.
