The Hessian State Prize for Universal Design 2026 recognizes companies, start-ups, designers, architecture and engineering firms, associations, and students from across Germany who develop aesthetic, sustainable, and inclusive solutions through their projects.
The competition offers public visibility, an exhibition, a publication, a traveling exhibition, feedback from the jury, and the permanent right to use the award label. The Newcomer Award comes with total prize money of €7,000.⁠ ⁠In addition, winning students will have the opportunity to participate in a mentoring program in cooperation with Hessen Design e.V.
Participation in the competition is free of charge.

  • Submissions from all design disciplines and industries are welcome, including architecture, interior design, healthcare, accessible IT, mobility, furniture, fashion, and public space.

How to apply

  • Register on the “My Design Council” portal and provide your personal details and project information (description, dimensions, photos, etc.).

  • After registration, you will receive a Project ID.

  • Use your Project ID to complete the application questionnaire.

  • Send the original products to Frankfurt am Main for the jury session.
