Semester Contributions and Fees

Every semester, a contribution for the Studierendenwerk (student union), the AStA (general students’ committee), the Deutschlandsemesterticket, the Semesterticket hardship fund (a fund to support students who can’t afford the ticket) and administration costs is to be paid. Tuition fees were abolished for students studying at state universities in Hamburg.

Students studying to become teachers do not pay fees at the HFBK. To re-register, a current semester certificate from the University of Hamburg must be sent by post to the Students Office or by email to hfbk-studverw@hfbk.hamburg.de within the re-registration period.

Teacher training students receive their Semesterticket unchanged from the University of Hamburg.

Alternative to the digital Deutschlandsemesterticket + –

Students without a smartphone now have the opportunity to apply for an alternative via the Studierendenwerk Hamburg to be able to use their digital semester ticket. The costs for this amount to 15,- € per semester and can be reimbursed after payment by the Studierendenwerk Hamburg.

Hardship Regulations + –

In case of exceptional hardship (for health reasons, absence from Hamburg, spatial reasons, social reasons) a rebate of the cost of the semester ticket can be applied for at the Studierendenwerk Hamburg. The period for applying for rebates ends on the 31 March (summer semester) or 30 September (winter semester). Further information can be found on the homepage of the Studierendenwerk Hamburg.
