More than 200 graduates from the 2025/26 academic year are showcasing their final art projects at the HFBK Hamburg. Discover the next generation of promising artists in a comprehensive exhibition that spans the entire studio and seminar spaces, complemented by a diverse program of performances.
The Film Department is rooted in the tradition of the artistic auteur film and supports the development of independent, experimental film projects. At its core are artistic innovation, the exploration of cinematic language, and critical engagement with the aesthetic, economic, and political roles of film.
Students work with both analog and digital techniques, develop their own cinematic concepts, and realize them in individual or collective projects—ranging from fictional to non-fictional formats. Theory, film history, and media-critical discourses accompany practical work, while HFBK Hamburg’s workshops provide technical resources for production.
International exchange programs, collaborations, and screenings at festivals, cinemas, the HFBK Hamburg university cinema, digital platforms, as well as the annual exhibitions and the Graduate Show offer additional perspectives and foster professional networking.
