Prof. Dr. Bettina Uppenkamp has held the professorship for Art and Visual History at HFBK Hamburg since the winter semester of 2017/2018.⁠ ⁠Prior to this, she had been Professor of Art History at the University of Fine Arts Dresden since 2013.

Her research focuses on Early Modern art, contemporary art, and the history and theory of gender orders and their representation. Since June 2019, she has served as Vice President of HFBK Hamburg.
