The Frappant Open Call 2027 invites applications for exhibition concepts to be presented at Frappant Galerie in Hamburg-Altona. The call is seeking curatorial and artistic concepts for group exhibitions taking place in 2027.⁠ ⁠Selected projects will have the opportunity to be presented in the gallery’s physical exhibition spaces and, optionally, in the digital exhibition space “Der Vierte Raum.” Frappant e.V. supports the exhibitions through curatorial guidance, public relations, networking opportunities, and technical assistance.

Who can apply?

• Professional Artists, Curators, Designers, Architects, Activists

• Applicants with a proven artistic or curatorial practice

• Individuals or collectives with a compelling exhibition concept

• Solo exhibitions are not eligible for this open call

Preferred applications include:

• Group exhibitions featuring at least three artistic positions

• Concepts proposed by independent curators

• Interdisciplinary projects

• Cross-genre and cross-space approaches (analogue and digital)

• Interregional collaborations involving artists from Hamburg

• Collaborations with independent art spaces and project spaces outside Hamburg

• Projects with feminist, queer, critical, or deconstructive perspectives

• Concepts that include additional formats such as performances, readings, workshops, or screenings
