Stefan Guzy (born in 1980 in Rüdersdorf near Berlin) studied visual communication at Berlin University of the Arts from 2001 to 2007. His teachers included Stefan Sagmeister, Holger Matthies, Daniela Haufe, and Detlef Fiedler (cyan).

After initially working as a VJ in the artist collective dis_sign, Guzy worked with his studio Zwölf, founded in 2000 (with Björn Wiede since 2006), primarily for cultural institutions and public clients, particularly as a poster designer. He also worked in scenography, both as an exhibition designer and for music videos. With the founding of the printing studio Handsiebdruckerei in Berlin in 2014, Stefan Guzy deepened his interest in traditional printing techniques and produced over 600 editions with artists from Germany and abroad. In 2020, he founded the studio’s own publishing house, Handsiebdruckerei Editionen, for contemporary artistic prints in Berlin.

In addition to his creative practice, he is also involved in academic research on historical manuscripts. In 2023, he published a highly acclaimed study on the provenance history of the Voynich Manuscript.

Stefan Guzy has received numerous international awards for his design work. In 2016, he was appointed to the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI). After guest professorships at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle and Bauhaus University Weimar, as well as teaching assignments in Bremen and Düsseldorf, he took up the guest professorship for Visual Identities at Folkwang University of the Arts in the summer semester of 2025.
