Jenna Sutela lives and works in Berlin. Her practice spans ‘living sculptures’, images, sound, and language. Many of her works, from fountains to musical instruments, involve chance elements or evolving structures. Ranging across environments and materials from the microbial to the computational to the cosmic, she explores the relationship between consciousness and the material world. Often, she seeks patterns, signs, and meaning in what might generally be considered random or chaotic.
Sutela’s work has been presented internationally, most recently at the Finnish Pavilion, 61st Venice Biennale (2026); Nicoletta Fiorucci Foundation, London (2026); New Museum, New York (2026); Castello di Rivoli, Turin (2025); and Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève (2024). She was a La Becque residency laureate in 2025 and is a Jane Lombard Fellow at The New School 2025–27.
