Ammar Yassir
Visiting Artist, Artist in Residence
Ammar Yassir is a sudanese documentary photographer and filmmaker specialized in documenting stories related to the ongoing conflict in Sudan, specifically Sudanese refugees. Working in this field, he had been commended as the youngest Ian Parry Grant of Photojournalism grantee, as he was commended in 2024. He was able to document daily life within Renk Refugee Transit Camp. These experiences have strengthened his ability to craft narratives that go beyond the immediate chaos of war, focusing instead on the resilience and daily lives of displaced communities. His work also has been published by UNDP Sudan, DIE ZEIT, The continent, The New Humanitarian, and much more to mention, and exhibited in Italy, Denmark, Spain, and Uganda.
